Nixie Expeditions co-founder Rannva Joermundsson will be talking at the GO Diving Show about past explorations into spectacular cave systems, as well as looking forward to the forthcoming Expedition Buteng in Indonesia later this year.
Rannva Joermundsson, who is originally from the Faroe Islands, lives in Cornwall, where she works as Head of Sales for Fourth Element, whilst also representing Shearwater Research. She has been diving since 2008 and is a PADI IDC Staff instructor and full cave CCR diver – she is passionate about getting more young people, and especially women, into technical diving and cave diving.
Caves and cave systems are some of the final frontiers of exploration on our planet, and what drives Rannva in her cave diving is the allure of finding out what is behind the next bend and how this can help us better understand and protect our planet.
Nixie Expeditions will be doing a major cave exploration project in South East Sulawesi, Indonesia in October 2023 called Expedition Buteng. The main focus of the expedition is water conservation, with the local village struggling to get reliable and sustainable fresh water resources, despite being positioned directly above a seemingly pristine aquifer. This will be the subject of her talk on the Tech / UK Diving Stage from 11.45am-12.130pm on Sunday 5 March.
